Hiya folks, I've just cancelled my milk delivery from the local milkman as I want to reduce my consumption of dairy produce & am switching to soya milk. So can anyone recommend any particular brands of soya or other milks (rice etc) as being good on cereal, in mugs of tea etc?

Thanks

john

Soya fave is Provamel. We only use plain organic but they do a variety, some sweetened, with added calcium etc.For those who like the flavour of cows milk Alpro do a fresh soya-can't drink it myself.
I also like Oatly and rice dream-both are naturally sweet.I drink as it is,over granola or in smoothies so am unable to advise re tea/coffee.
Things are better now, when I first became vegan 'milk' was a choice between not very tasty soya and.....not very tasty soya!!

Rice milk is disgusting. Tastes like mouldy cardboard.

I, too, prefer the Alpro range - unsweetened in tea and the sweetened (blue) one for anything else (can be a bit overpowering in tea).

So Good is also excellent, especially in coffee where others tend to curdle. It has a slightly peculiar flavour but is very pleasant and is cheaper than Alpro.

I like SO GOOD very much.

Why don't you try OAT MILK and RICE MILK?

Hi,

I would recommend 'Holland and Barrets' own brand, and also the one in the blue and white box which is manufactured by a company and is not a supermarket brand, sorry despite my efforts, I just can't think of the name. 'Co-op's' own brand is very nice too, but does not have added Calcium and Vitamins like the previous one.

The first two I particularly recommend as they are available, guaranteed with 'Holland and Barrets' for under £1.

I find rice milk very watery, and therefore not suitable for tea, although is nice with cereal.

I would suggest the sweetened soya milk for tea rather than the unsweetened, yet this is down to preferencial determination.

If you have an added concern over GM Soya, then go for the one in a blue and white box, although the Plamil one I think probably is Non GM too.

I am not all that keen on Morrisons own brand I have to say.

All the best.

I agree with Skylark, Alrpo fridge carton is too much like cow's milk for me, both taste and texture. Coop's own or Tesco's own are good, and cheaper too.

Asda & Morrisons are just watery puke in a carton.

I gotta agree Alpro Soya for me! The sweetened one is nice in cereal reminds me of Almond milk. I have also tried Tesco's own brand which is nice.
Whichever one you choose persevere with it for a week or so, I couldnt stand it to start with but it soon grows on you-now even the smell of cows milk turns my stomach!

Co-ops sweetened soya does the job for me ..
My tea tastes great and as for my cereal .. a bowl of cornflakes .. one finely chopped banana .. a couple of sliced strawberries (if i have any :) ) .. and masses of soya milk ..
Is there a better way to start the day? :):):)
Take care all ..

Tesco's own brand (sweetened) is very good only only about 80p and the Holland and Barret sweetened one is great to. The worst for me were safeway/morrisons own brand aand alpro, plus any unsweetened one.
