| | Someone suggested a thread about films, past and present and it would be good to hear about why people chose the films in their profiles, which current films they recommend and why. I've seen so many awful movies in the last few years and I'd have liked to have had a warnijg about them beforehand. I was delighted that Nick Park has won the Oscar for best animated film, and also won Best British Film at the BAFTA's, for Wallace & Grommit/Curse of the Werewolf..it's a delightful funny, compassionate film with a great feel-good ending when all the rabbits are saved and put in a sanctuary...brilliant !! (whoops gave away the ending there). I think Mr Park must be an animal lover after "Chicken Run" featured the eponymous birds planing a succesful escape, a lovely parody of the WWII films such as "Great Escape", also there was a shorter film about sheep being rescued from a dogfood factory. Yes I know they are childish films, but so am I !!
So what are your favourite films and why ? |

| | I don't watch many films at the moment, but as for animal philosophical thought provoking related that I have seen recently,
Madagascar.
This is an animated film by Pixar (I think), really impressive animation, not sure about the soundtrack though..."I like to moove it moove it!" being the main anthemn. Quite funny and light hearted though!
As for other films I like ones with good soundtracks like "Apocalypse Now" and "Me Myself and Irene", the latter stated featuring amongst others a song from XTC. Did you see what happened to the cow in the road?. |

| | Nick park does some cracking films, especially the bunnyone:)
Would of thought Crouching tiger might be a fan of Croaching Tiger Hidden Dragon?
I saw 'Everything is illuminated' the other day and thought it was really beautifully shot, and refreshing change. I'm a real fan of the book, so it was really cool to see it brought to life. Ashame they missed out the old fashioned love story though. |

| | I'm a HUGE Movie fan!
I love films. Mostly I can see good in pretty much everything I watch. However there a few that REALLY shouldn't have been made... Solaris being one of them... what was George Clooney thinking about...?
Sorry to whoever put this down as their favourite film... I can't remember who it was...
I'm going to get a backlash from this... I can feel it! |

| | Thanks, folks. I saw Madagascar (plus every other film in the last 3 years most of which I was dragged to against my will)...it was good but for me not as funny as the Nick Park films which have such charm and that British sense of humour. Glad I'm not the only one to like them, by the way GW my user name on here is Crouching Panda and it was meant to be a light-hearted parody of the Crouching Tiger film title, which someone on this site alerted me to. Well I did warn you I was childish !! :-))
BBRider, no backlash from me, didn't see the Clooney version of Solaris, did you know it was an update of a very long and tedious Russian film of the same name? And did you see the original? It was an interesting idea but just too long and you never saw what they were talking about..they'd been to a planet which somehow reflected back their own emotions and what was in their minds...copied by that "Sphere" film which was on TV the other night. |

| | Exactly....I don't know what they were thinking of. Trouble is I'm now tempted to look at the newer version if it gets on TV just to see which one is worse....
I see that Clooney got the Oscar for Supporting Actor...I was glad as the film (can't recall the title) sounds worthy and "issue-based" but also I'm afraid, sounds mind-numbingly tedious...
Are all his films like that?! |

| | | I can't see what Clooney does for people, all that grey chin! I endured one of his films once, the name escapes me - or rather, fled screaming from my mind... |

| | CP,
don't be tempted to watch the 'clooney' version, It's 2 hours of your life you'll never get back!
In reference to "are all of his films like that..." erm... well I thought he was OK in Batman, but then he was following the wonderful Mr Michael Keaton who of course was the original and best... |

| | Ok BBR will take your advice !! Life is short. I didn't realise Clooney was in Batman, not my thing I never watch the comic book hero type films...except the first Superman with Chris Reeve (RIP) which was good I thought.
Tickly1 I'm glad you don't all fall for the smooth looks, I thought women went weak-kneed at the sight of Clooney's rather pretty-boy face !! (ooh, catty)..I see what you mean about the greyish growth , not flattering at all...it's fun tearing these Hollywood hotshots to bits eh? Who can we pick on next? |

| | This should be a thread all on it's own:
Now who can we pick on next...
PLEASE let it be Catherine Zeta Jones Douglas....
How can she be sooooo beautiful with just one face... she makes me sick (I'm not jealous, really I'm not)... |
