Hi,

I had a dog who I fed on Happidog (veggie dog food) for many years and he was happy and healthy and lived to a good age. I am sure that a dog could be very healthy on vegan food if given the right balance of protein, vitamins etc.

This site might help you:

It has vegan as well as veggie food.

Hi Cat

The following links may be of interest. I did have the Veggie Pets link on the list but son of the earth beat me to it! That one is useful, as it offers VegeDog, a supplement which can be added to commercial or home-made vegan dog foods to make sure dogs get all essential nutrients in their diet.

Hope this helps.

Did the dog become vegan?

Ask for samples to try with your dog.

Regarding veggie pet food, I have four cats who are fed on veggie/vegan food from veggie pets, the tin food, they do is suitable for both cats and dogs, I also give my cats both types of dry food from veggie pets, It is a bit more pricey but worth it!

Vegi Dog - that's a band isn't it? One of the Seattle grunge bands. I think they supported Nirvana for a couple of gigs, but never quite made it to the grunge big-time, mainly due to the singer's eczema. I think they're still at it, but now under the name Sam Spayed.

Most of the members puppies came from the now defunked Huskey Sled Zeppelin of course. In olden 'no barking now pups' daze they could only dream of forming Savage Garden and Snouuxsie and the barkshees. Most of these dog-bands were injured ina masse brawl with the Stray Cats quite some time ago when dinosaurs moonwalked the earth. Cats are fine yes but you should really try to 'Adopt-A-Bird'...all you do is pick, at totalle-blindiest-mens-buffering' random, then name it and voila you have your own toll-free pet for life...no vets bills, food bills, animal bills, fur bills, cat-basket tax-attraction bills, canine bills, pet-licences, lick-tax, scratching one rear tax and any other tax this taxvernment can pathetically dream up for a sleeping dosile nation of cat-lovers and immey-po-tayters...I'm voting for Cat in next elec(trocu)tion

I wouldn't bother. We tried it for a while with two of ours and they weren't keen, to say the least. I'm now considering the bulk purchase of chicken wings (ok as long as not cooked, apparently). Dogs are mainly carnivorous, as can be seen from their teeth, but can live on non-meat stuff at a push.

As far as I know, cats are obligate carnivores, and will not do well without meat.

We can only do our best.
