Topic: Would you eat a bacon buttie?

Someone flapped a dead pheasant at me today and asked if I wanted to buy it. It got me thinking about if I would ever eat meat again (starvation excluded).

Would you eat a bacon butty for £100? For £1000? £10000? A million pounds?

Does the financial element relate to your compromising your personal ethical principles, or is it related to the value you place on a pig's life?

Hope Elton thought it was worth it!

I have sort of thought about this before, but of course no one's ever offered me money to eat meat, and no one will ever offer me big money to eat it.

But I just thought, would it not be stupid to turn down £1m? The pig would already be dead, and you could probably save thousands of animals with that kind of cash. Just a thought. Whatever I decided, I wouldn't like doing it.

I finally know what I should write on my profile where it has that fill-in-the-blank "If I won the lottery I would...". It's the toughest question, it makes you sound materialistic or like a vomit inducing do-gooder, but now I have a clever answer: offer demeter big money to eat meat!

I'd eat the boiled leather off old shoes if I was starving!! I'd eat the Pheasant long before then!

Everyone has a price on their soul but until you actually meet the Devil and start the bargaining you ain't gonna really know!

Right! Bring this into the real world! (well maybe! almost!)... An advertising agency working for some meat promotion puts a nice picture from an image bank of happy people eating a meal on a poster with a tag line "YUM YUM BACON!"

Right in the middle is YOU! about to tuck into something with a fork! ....You remember? It was at that Vegan restaurant..ooh where was it now?.. but there was that photographer wandering round, thought he looked like a pro! Bet he's sold the right to HIS photo!

What do you do?

Wouldn't that be in breach of slander laws? I mean say I had just bought a TV from Curry's and was carrying it to the car, Crimestoppers couldn't take a photo of me and put it on a poster with the caption "CRIME: TOGETHER WE'LL SMASH IT" can it?

What price do you put on your way of life and beliefs?
What is the point becoming a veggie if you are going to see your soul for money, eat a pig or old leather boots, do you think you are going to be anymore happier with you pockets filled with cash (don't bother answering that) what a waste of space, you can only wear one pair of shoes, eat one meal, drive one car, what more do you want.

I agree with WT. You are either veggie or not.

No amount of cash would persuade me to eat meat.
