| | | I became vegetarian when I was four years old. At school the dinner ladies didn't understand why I didn't eat meat. In my teenage years I cut down on drinking cows milk. I gradually shifted over to becoming a vegan. I have always made sure I get vegan food and it is not always easy to do. I am very keen on travelling. My last trip was to South Africa and the fruit plus vegetables there were very high quality. Some people don't understand the moral reasons why a person is vegan. My shoes are made from lorica and some people I know wonder what is wrong with leather. I will stand by my vegan beliefs in a strong way. I respect other people's differences. |

| | | I find most people very ignorant about vegetarianism or the reasons behind it...but the worse is that they seem to want to stay ignorant!?... |

| | | I am also vegan and had an interesting conversation with an assistant in The Body Shop today. I asked if a product was vegan and she got an ingredients list out for me to check as she had no idea. It contained lanolin which I said was from wool. She then proceeded to try and tell me - a vegan - that the Sheep aren't harmed for their wool!!! The silly cow!!! |

| | HP, that is mental.
I generally don't care about other peoples attitudes to my vegetarianism. If my mates are curious then I try my best to explain it to them by saying I feel better not eating meat. Going out used to be a hassle, but now my friends know its not a fad then they are a lot more accomodating.
My folks are cool with it but they will never change, I understand why and I would never ask them to (although my mums meat intake has lessened considerably).
So I don't find it so difficult. When someone is difficult then I tend to think thats their problem.
Often I find other veggies and vegans to be worse, in the sense that they love to be 'more' vegi, vegan, moral, ethical, green, knowledgeable etc. etc than the next guy. |
