I'm a vegetarian pondering becoming vegan currently working as an English teacher in Spain. I'm moving back to the UK in the summer to re-join the real world and starting a Masters with the OU in autumn. I like nights out (well, it'd be churlish not to in Madrid!!), cinema, reading, cooking and generally enjoying the company of others. I'm handy in a pub quiz if there's anything highly trivial or related to the cheese that was the 80's. I love Christmas, Muppets and the sunshine and I'm rubbish dealing with the cold, spiders, and people who love yoga. For me the benefits of being vegan/vegetarian are... avoiding the utterly needless and inhumane deaths of the animals that live around us. Funniest/worst comment I regularly hear about being a veggie/vegan... You've never tried jamon serrano??!! (I'm currently in Spain and get that A LOT) I also had someone tell me that 'it's not natural' because of course buying parts of dead animals from a supermarket is. I am hoping to meet A lovely, friendly, fun-loving veggie guy. If I could be any animal for a day, I would be a... because... An ant. They're kind of cool - their little communities, milking the aphids and all that. If I won the lottery I would... scream until I was hoarse. My favourite vegan / vegetarian meal is? A good curry - preferably muttar paneer with pilau rice. My favourite vegan / vegetarian restaurant is? Terre a Terre in Brighton. Not often though as it's a wee bit pricey. My guests (living or dead, actual people or fictional characters) to the ultimate dinner party would include... Eddie Izzard, The Dalai Lama, Stephen Fry, Derren Brown, Madhur Jaffrey, B.A. Baracus, Audrey Hepburn. My ideal date would be (e.g. candlelit dinner) Picnic in the park in summer followed by sitting in a beer garden/terrace having a giggle over some drinks. My ideal vacation would be Something that combines culture - maybe archaeological or architectural -lounging around on a beach and meeting the locals.
