| | Hiya folks, I've just cancelled my milk delivery from the local milkman as I want to reduce my consumption of dairy produce & am switching to soya milk. So can anyone recommend any particular brands of soya or other milks (rice etc) as being good on cereal, in mugs of tea etc?
Thanks

| | | Provamel rice milk or oatly oat milk are both good on cereal. Milk in tea simply isn't done, leave it out!!! |

| | My verbal inspiration does not originate from a fictional character.
Thanks though for the career suggestion, I am having trouble finding a suitable job at the moment. |

| | | Ecomil do a selection of milks which include - almond, quinoa & hazlenut, they are naturally sweetened with agave syrup. The consistency is thicker & creamier. They are delicious:) |

| | I like Alpro (used to be called 'Provamel') unsweetened. Some dairy-drinkers prefer the sweetened one as they're getting used to soya milk.
Most soya milks are actually made in Belgium by Vandemortelle, the company that makes Alpro, so they're pretty similar.
Granovita (the one in the blue carton) is nice too, but sometimes has lumps at the bottom.
Holland and Barret, Co-op and Tescos all do quite good own brands.
'So Good' (the fridge one) has a distinctive flavour and is disgusting to me, but I've heard that it tastes very similar to cows' milk, so that is probably why.
The one to avoid is 'Soya Soleil'. It is cheap and watery and only contains 5% soya. You get what you pay for! |

| | I'm an alpro fan which is a good job because our local co-op only has the alpro on their shelf. It must be good cos my kids drink it by the glass full and now prefer it to cows milk :-)

| | That's brilliant Tony. I sometimes feel that those resistant to soya milk (or other vegan varieties) are acting on psychological factors unrelated to the actual taste...such as the image they had of it before even trying it.
There are so many, as listed above by all you lovely helpful folk...that there must be one to suit everybody...and even if you discount ethical reasons the health benefits are proven.
As for me I love any soya product, they taste of freedom, life and liberation..... |

| | | Yes, it seems Alpro is a clear winner for taste and availability, and although quite pricey, I have recently noticed (although £.89 I have found the most cheapest for it) that Waitrose are selling it for under 1 buck. brrr pound, I-I-I mean, substitution of currency language is fun and replaces boring monotous economic regularities. |

| | am i the only person who hates Alpro?! i really dislike the vanilla taste it has, yukk!!
so-good is so-bloody awful as well!! i would rather drink 'white wave' the no frills soya milk.
i much prefer sweetened tesco's or co-op's own brand.
