Additional Information

3 things I could not live without:
Once food, shelter and clothing are taken care of, friendship, love and attempts at good cheer seem pretty necessary for survival.
A bit about me...:
Over the last ten years or so, I've spent roughly 6-9 months of each year in England, teaching and also working part-time in a university library. The remainder of each year is usually spent living and teaching in Japan. I'm interested in exploring part-time van dwelling as a means of travelling more often.
For me the benefits of being vegan/vegetarian are...:
I haven't eaten meat or fish for about thirty years now and try to avoid dairy products where possible. Without being sanctimonious about it, I feel better for trying to minimise suffering/my environmental impact, but realise that I could always do better. I tend therefore not to be overly critical of other people's choices in these regards. From a nutritional point of view, it's much better for my health and from an ethical standpoint it just makes more sense to me and makes me feel better about my actions.
Funniest/worst comment I regularly hear about being a veggie/vegan...:
I tend to ignore/roll eyes, unless it's genuinely funny, in which case, I laugh...
A common complaint I hear is - why is it that all vegans (vegetarians/gluten intolerant etc.) tell you they are vegan/v/g.i. within one minute of first meeting them?
I am hoping to meet...:
People are greater than the sum of their parts, so all lists regarding what we hope to find are going to be reductive and fall short of the mark (thankfully, as it's always good to be surprised). Friendship would be great. If we fancy each other, can have a laugh/interesting conversation, appreciate nature and enjoy a good film/pub/walk, then that would be the icing on the cake. It also strikes me that it might be better to say what we're prepared to offer, rather than what we want from someone.
If I could be any animal for a day, I would be a... because...:
That's not going to work - how could I unlock my flat, google stuff, make smoothies etc. Being a human animal will have to suffice,
If I won the lottery I would...:
Try and give it away and keep on doing what I'm doing.
My favourite vegan / vegetarian meal is?:
It's a close call between vegan burritos and a chickpea jalfrezi.
My favourite vegan / vegetarian restaurant is?:
Falafel Guys - Leeds food truck.
My guests (living or dead, actual people or fictional characters) to the ultimate dinner party would include...:
Closest friends and family, as meeting heroes is probably best avoided.
My ideal date would be (e.g. candlelit dinner):
Light a fire on a deserted beach or hillside overlooking the sea and attempt to get some veggie burgers grilled. A hip flask with a good single malt wouldn't go amiss.
My ideal vacation would be:
Right now, driving a winterised motorhome/van up through the fjords to see the northern lights in Norway and Lapland appeals, as do the blue skies of Spain and Portugal in winter.
