Additional Information

3 things I could not live without:
Travel, exercise, books...
A bit about me...:
I currently live in Africa, but travel back to UK most months. I have a job I really enjoy, on issues i care about, & which takes me around the world. But I don't meet many vegetarians, so I thought that perhaps I should try harder.

My friends would probably say I'm a weird mix between very sociable and an inveterate loner. Definitely happy in my own skin, have a quirky sense of humour, although after re reading my profile, I can see you might want to judge that for yourself. I'm imaginative, like new places, ideas and people and I am generally upbeat about life. I'm not great with high maintenance or miserable people, although I'm not great with relentlessy chirpy people either. I'm hoping there's a wide space between.
For me the benefits of being vegan/vegetarian are...:
I wouldn't want to be too sanctimonious about it. In general, I feel we need to rethink global food production, that animals should be treated with respect and that it's healthier. So being a vegetarian ticks those boxes.
Funniest/worst comment I regularly hear about being a veggie/vegan...:
I live in Africa so am now inured to the look of horror on people's faces when I turn down the goat stew.
I am hoping to meet...:
Someone smart and fun, who loves adventure, can be surprised and surprising, who is passionate about life and things, is liberal, tolerant and questioning. And they have to be kind.

The three choices (fun, friendship, relationships) don't quite fit. I'm looking for a good connection with someone, and more than happy if this starts as friendship, and then seeing if there's anything more.
If I could be any animal for a day, I would be a... because...:
Horse. Because they're beautiful creatures. And i like Westerns.
If I won the lottery I would...:
Definitely not have my "champagne and cheque" photo on the front page of The Sun.
My favourite vegan / vegetarian meal is?:
I had this Tuscan bean/vegetable soup once, after a day's cycling in the freezing rain in Chianti. The waiter was a grumpy sod, who clearly didn't like vegetarians. The chef overheard, told the waiter to back off, and produced the finest soup I've ever tasted. And there was even enough for seconds.
My ideal date would be (e.g. candlelit dinner):
Countryside, beautiful views, great wine, cool summer night outside, or inside in pub/cottage by roaring fire...
My ideal vacation would be:
Off beaten track, finding hidden gem, few days of snorkelling, beach, hiking, mountain biking, followed by local town/city, meandering around, visiting sites/sights, trying the local food and drink, getting a bit lost...
