Additional Information

3 things I could not live without:
The Sun, Trees, Sleep. Yes I confess I'm a bona fide tree-hugger...and bunny-hugger too, and not ashamed to admit it.
A bit about me...:
Passionate/caring/kind/thoughtful/ gentle/loyal/loving/romantic/emotional...and funny, if you share my sense of humour. It's maybe clear from other comments what my views on the animal kingdom are, I agree with a quote I heard today, "A human's right, and an animal's right, is to live, to feel, to be free" and similarly on the Bionic Vet program, "Animals have the right to Life, and to a good quality of life"...Those quotes sum up my views on animals and their rights, and our responsibility to protect them and do whatever we can for them. Damn, I sound terribly serious, I'm not really, I have a sense of fun and frivolity. Someone described me as enigmatic, so maybe I should just put that word in to this section and save you falling asleep reading this twaddle.
For me the benefits of being vegan/vegetarian are...:
A healthier and cruelty-free diet, better for the environment and the planet. I'd just include a comment that was too long for my favourite quote section...."Flesh eating is simply immoral, as it involves the performance of an act which is contrary to moral feeling: killing. By killing, man suppresses in himself, unnecessarily, the highest spiritual capacity, that of sympathy and pity towards living creatures like himself and by violating his own feelings becomes cruel." -Leo Tolstoy, and of course his more famous and pithy quote,
"As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields."..Tolstoy again.
Funniest/worst comment I regularly hear about being a veggie/vegan...:
You must have nothing to eat at Christmas!!! "Plants have feelings"....
Worst- "I like animals but I like meat more"....Pete Burns on a programme called "The Most Annoying people of 2006"
I am hoping to meet...:
Initially friends, with similar views and interests. In the case of possible romance, I think it's wrong to make a list but just someone who will love me unconditionally and totally, a soulmate to coin a cliche. Someone with loyalty, values and a good sense of what's right and wrong....so someone unlike anyone I've been out with before.
If I could be any animal for a day, I would be a... because...:
Puppy - everyone thinks they are cute and says AAHHH and strokes them. On second thoughts, that could be a drawback.
If I won the lottery I would...:
Help animal charities, especially sanctuaries which are often underfunded....depending how much it was, other charities such as NSPCC.
And buy a house somewhere warm!
My favourite vegan / vegetarian meal is?:
Apple pie and vegan custard
My favourite vegan / vegetarian restaurant is?:
I did like Sasa Thai, Greek Street, London.
But beware! I saw this on another veggie forum...."but just to
confirm... Sasa Thai in Greek Street, Soho, is *not* vegan anymore. Not
even vegetarian! I went in and asked. Go to the Chi place next door -
that's still completely vegan." So I guess my favourite is Chi in Greek Street!
My guests (living or dead, actual people or fictional characters) to the ultimate dinner party would include...:
GANDHI, BRIGITTE BARDOT, VIRGINIA MCKENNA, CHRISSIE HYNDE, LINDA & PAUL McCARTNEY, BARRY HORNE.(must have hit capslock by mistake)...late addition Paul Farthing who risked his life to save a dog....and later started Nowzad dogs ....see www.nowzad.com....I recently met him, lovely guy and he signed his book for me....aaaah starstruck:)
My ideal date would be (e.g. candlelit dinner):
A tasty meal in a cosy restaurant, then a romantic walk along a tropical beach, with gentle winds and sighs of the surf.
My ideal vacation would be:
On a tropical island with lots of fruit/sunshine/sandy beaches....and no phones/TV/internet.
