Additional Information

3 things I could not live without:
Other than the obvious - human companionship, laughter, curiosity about life.
A bit about me...:
Hard to describe myself, not used to it, and like anyone I change over time, but I'll give it a shot... Open minded, friendly, caring, a little bit cheeky, light-hearted but with a serious side. Lapsed philosopher, wannabe photographer, vegan now for 6 years. I like chatting and being daft and hearing gossip but I'm very good at keeping secrets (which tends to make me a rubbish gossip myself). I like tv or films or books or people that move me or make me laugh or make me think. Given this, you might wonder why I find myself watching Big Brother every year. I like singing along to music but I'm awful at it. So my brother tells me. I like quiet nights in and noisy nights out. I like it when seagulls catch bread in mid air. I enjoy photographing them do this. I like words and texts and emails and learning new things and getting to know new people. And cuddles.
For me the benefits of being vegan/vegetarian are...:
Not contributing to the suffering of animals.
Funniest/worst comment I regularly hear about being a veggie/vegan...:
We were meant to eat meat/ Look what happened to Linda McCartney/ I agree with you but I could never do it myself/ This carrot once touched a cow's hoof - you can't eat it now.
I am hoping to meet...:
Someone who gives me a jumpy feeling in my stomach. Someone not so self-obsessed, with their own mind who doesn't just regurgitate the opinions of others. Someone caring and maybe a little artistic/creative. Vegan or vegetarian is cool. But really it's impossible for words on a screen to pin down what makes compatibility. Let's see what happens... :)
If I could be any animal for a day, I would be a... because...:
Cat, because they're cool and they do what they want. However I'd be one of those chilled-out cats that can't be bothered chasing birds and mice.
If I won the lottery I would...:
Be amazed cos I never play it.
My favourite vegan / vegetarian meal is?:
Houmous; crumpets with Marmite; Nut roast; Vegan curry; mango chutney & poppadoms; (and, when they invent it, nice vegan cheese in sandwiches dipped in tomato soup).
My favourite vegan / vegetarian restaurant is?:
A hare krishna one in Prague blew me away but that was a while ago and I'm a vegan now ... The Egg Cafe in Liverpool was pretty good, as was Earth Cafe in Manchester
My guests (living or dead, actual people or fictional characters) to the ultimate dinner party would include...:
You, me and a bunch of cool strangers - or Will Self, Charlie Brooker, Pete Doherty, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, the cast of Peep Show, Stephen Fry, Jim Morrison, Eddie Izzard, Dave Gorman, Sarah Silverman, Morrissey, Mark Radcliffe, Lard, Amelie, Lauren Laverne, Doug Stanhope, Bill Hicks, Bagpuss, Alan Partridge, Cat Power, Johnny from Naked, Russell Brand, Chris Rock, Hadley Freeman, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring, Jim Rose Circus Sideshow, Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke, all my old cats.
My ideal date would be (e.g. candlelit dinner):
No ideal really, as long as we get the chance to hang out together. One example might be - Glastonbury Festival: a meal in a vegan cafe, drinking wine while watching bands as the sun goes down, sitting round a camp fire when the music has finished, talking, cuddling, getting high on romance and ideas. Or a candlelit meal on a beach in the evening with the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. Or eating chips huddled in a shop doorway sheltering from the rain. Etc.
My ideal vacation would be:
Somewhere otherworldly; scenic; vibey in some way. Doesn't have to be abroad - maybe Cornwall or Scotland. Or Eastern Europe or Berlin or Russia, India, preferably somewhere new. A peaceful uninhabited island. A big bustling edgy city full of excitement. A tent in my back garden. Wherever.
